The Region in Focus series provides an essential quarterly briefing on industry developments, market insights and country KPIs for mobile markets around the world. This edition explores how the 5G era is starting to take shape in Latin America. 5G spectrum has been assigned in four countries and network upgrades are well underway across the region in preparation for future commercial 5G launches. 5G adoption will build steadily in the period to 2025, before ramping up in the second half of the decade as new 5G markets go live and existing 5G networks expand to new areas. By 2030, 5G will account for more than half of total connections in Latin America.
