IoT in business? The enterprise voice on the adoption choice

This report is available to those subscribed to the IoT & Enterprise module.
Enterprise IoT adoption is a driving force behind growth in both IoT connections and revenue. GSMA Intelligence forecasts that the industrial segment will account for just over half of all IoT connections by 2025 as IoT solutions are deployed within enterprises and for verticals – for example, utilities, retail and manufacturing. IoT is truly moving beyond proof of concept/trials and onto full-scale deployments. Some 65% of surveyed enterprises have already deployed an IoT solution. The majority of those deployments are small and are being driven by the potential for productivity increases.
In this report, we present the results from the GSMA Intelligence IoT Enterprise Survey of 2,000 enterprises. Analysing the findings of our survey, we focus on the IoT adoption story among businesses - the drivers, challenges and measures of success for the enterprise IoT sector. If IoT is indeed in business, what’s the view from enterprises on adoption so far, and how do their deployment plans shape up for the future?

Connectivity trends in robotics: 5G and cellular IoT are only just emerging
From a telecoms perspective, robotics was recognised early on as a key future use case during the planning and rollout of 5G around seven years ago. With 5G-Advanced now commercially deployed in early-adopter countries, it is timely to evaluate 5G’s real-world impact on robotics. We also explore how complementary technologies such as edge computing, IoT and eSIM are shaping the connectivity landscape.
