Over half of all mobile connections in the six countries that make up the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) are now running on mobile broadband networks, while all 15 mobile network operators in the region are on track to have commercially launched 4G-LTE by the end of this year.

According to GSMA Intelligence data, there were almost 100 million mobile connections spread across the Gulf States of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain at the end of Q3 2013. Mobile broadband accounted for 54 per cent of the total.
