Huawei’s Global Analyst Summit in April provided an update on the company’s performance, long-term vision and strategy. The vendor’s private listing and Chinese domicile make the event a rare opportunity to question executives in a candid fashion. This year’s gathering took on added significance given the launch of 5G and political imbroglio surrounding the company in the wake of cyber-security allegations first made by the US government. Huawei has become the world’s ‘firm of the moment’ – an unsuspecting global barometer for 5G development and the political scrutiny over advanced technology with economic and national security implications.
