This report is available to those subscribed to the IoT & Enterprise module.
The first physical Hannover Messe since the Covid-19 pandemic started took place in June, during which thousands of companies and high-profile officials from Germany and the EU came together to discuss Industry 4.0 innovation in cloud, digital twins, IoT and AI in manufacturing, as well as policies for the European industrial sector. 5G and private networks took centre stage, with ecosystem players highlighting progress made and revealing plans for the future.
Industrial companies have been gradually progressing on digital transformation over the last few years. But they have now realised that this is more urgent than ever before due to incremental challenges such as climate change, geopolitical tensions and the pandemic. Digital innovations are now re-evaluated based on making supply chains more resilient to external shocks, reshoring production, differentiating energy sourcing and reaching sustainability targets.
