GSMA Open Gateway: State of the Market, H2 2025
This latest edition of the GSMA Open Gateway research series provides an update on the state of the market, recent developments and examples of Open Gateway in action.
Among the most interesting developments for H2 2025 is the segmentation of industry demand. On the one hand, there is a consensus among developers on which industries are viewed as the most likely to use network APIs. Financial services, software and government form the top three. However, there are marked differences on which industries gravitate to certain use cases, suggesting pocketed demand. This analysis highlights considerable variation when it comes to developers working with mobile operators. Healthcare scores highest; 70% of developers affiliated with the healthcare industry who have deployed a network API have worked with mobile operators.
H2 2025 has also seen the continued deployment of APIs in categories other than fraud and security. QoD, device information and location-based information are the three biggest examples. This goes some way to providing validation of market demand for APIs in these categories.
