Enterprises speak: IoT gets real

This report is available to those subscribed to the IoT & Enterprise module.
In this analysis, we present the findings of the latest GSMA Intelligence IoT enterprise survey of almost 2,900 enterprises. This comes at a time when IoT projects have been put on hold – at least in the short term – as a result of the aftershock from Covid-19. As revealed by our survey results, the proportion of companies planning to deploy IoT within a year has contracted by more than 20 percentage points between 2019 and 2020. Most of this change has been accounted for by enterprises with fewer than 250 employees. More broadly, this report explores the IoT adoption journey for enterprises, including an updated look at the drivers, challenges and measures of success for IoT in the enterprise sector.

Connectivity trends in robotics: 5G and cellular IoT are only just emerging
From a telecoms perspective, robotics was recognised early on as a key future use case during the planning and rollout of 5G around seven years ago. With 5G-Advanced now commercially deployed in early-adopter countries, it is timely to evaluate 5G’s real-world impact on robotics. We also explore how complementary technologies such as edge computing, IoT and eSIM are shaping the connectivity landscape.
