Digital technologies and services continue to play a key role in Asia Pacific, especially as governments look to build more resilient, inclusive and sustainable economies that can withstand future shocks. As focus shifts towards the digitalisation of economic sectors, including micro, small and medium-sized businesses, there is an even greater need for collaboration, underpinned by whole-of-government approach (WGA) principles, at local and international levels to secure the benefits and tackle the challenges.

This report is the GSMA’s seventh annual Digital Societies report for Asia Pacific. This year’s edition focusses on the concept of ‘digital nations’, referring to the aspirations of governments across Asia Pacific to integrate digital technologies and services into every sector of the economy. This makes digitalisation the core element of nation building and a means to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
