At its seventh annual Bosch Connected World (BCW) conference, Bosch made a number of important announcements, including its new partnership with Microsoft. The recent rebranding of its business unit, Bosch Software Innovations, into Bosch.IO signals the company’s expanding ambitions in AIoT (a combination of AI and IoT) and Edge AI (AI-like machine vision or speech recognition taking place on devices). After a decade of strengthening its IoT presence, Bosch is now also looking towards 5G. In particular, Bosch.IO will aim to uncover the 5G opportunity in smart factory solutions, following the company’s announcement of its intention to acquire spectrum licences in Germany.
