During Q4 2006 cellular connections worldwide will pass 2.5 billion. Asia-Pacific will continue to drive growth with China and India accounting for nearly 25% of global net additions during the year. Across Eastern and Western Europe, two-thirds of countries will end 2006 with penetration rates in excess of 100%, establishing multiple device ownership as a genuine feature of developed markets. Meanwhile WCDMA will begin to feature prominently on the global cellular map, ending the year with nearly 100 million connections, just under 4% of the global total.
