Super-aggregators rise to the challenge of video services fragmentation
This report is available to those subscribed to the Digital Consumer module.
Video streaming has seen a prodigious rise in recent years. In the US, there are now around 300 providers of video streaming services, including direct-to-consumer (D2C) offerings launched by big media houses. The resulting content fragmentation means around 80% of US video streaming customers subscribe to multiple services. A similar trend can be seen in Europe and other markets globally.
Against this backdrop, super-aggregators of video services are emerging in various shapes and sizes. We consider the current landscape for super-aggregators, the challenges they face and the impact super-aggregation services will have on the video ecosystem.
