For several years, the GSMA Intelligence Network Transformation Survey has queried operators on their top network transformation priorities. Despite the slow pace of deployment over the years, open RAN is still a technology priority in 2023, alongside others such as the automation of business processes. Business priorities such as network security and regulatory compliance were rated as more important.
Although there is still clear interest in open RAN, there are also concerns with the technology. These are legitimate issues to consider for those looking to deploy the technology and could represent obstacles to deployment.
