FMC in Spain – six takeaways five years on

This report is available to those subscribed to the Fixed, TV and Convergence module.
Spain, France and Portugal were the first markets in the world to fully embrace fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) of services. Today, FMC is the norm for consumers and a strategic pillar for the major operators in those markets. Other European countries have launched FMC in recent years, but adoption rates have been slower. Wave two of FMC has not been as strong as wave one.
A few weeks ago, regulator CNMC published Q4 2017 data for the fixed, mobile and pay-TV markets in Spain, including FMC. We took this as an opportunity to review the development of the market five years on from the launch of early FMC offerings, and the learnings for those operators around the world looking at how FMC changes market and competitive dynamics.
