Consumers in Focus: Gaming Behaviour Survey Dashboard 2022

This report is available to those subscribed to the Digital Consumer or Fixed, TV and Convergence modules.
The shifting behaviour of gamers is a major force driving the digital transformation of the gaming sector. Our research, based on a consumer survey in 10 major countries worldwide, shows that there is a shift of gaming consumption from consoles to mobile devices, especially smartphones. Also, like with music and video in the past, a subscription model is now emerging for gaming. This dashboard provides all the relevant data related to gamers’ behaviour in a consistent and structured way – a valuable asset for companies looking to formulate or adjust their commercial strategies and plans for gaming.
The dashboard provides data for 2020 and 2021 (drawn from the respective consumer surveys). A number of filters allows the comparison of data for individual countries and for specific consumer segments (e.g. by age, type of device used for gaming or mobile network used). The dashboard covers a broad range of areas, including frequency of playing games in general and by device type; type of games played; interest in gaming content as a value-added service to mobile subscriptions; appeal of enhanced gaming experience as a new 5G use case; and factors impacting smartphone gaming adoption. It also provides data on ownership of gaming consoles by model; subscription to gaming services in general and by type; reasons for having (or not having) a gaming subscription; and game broadcast or e-sport viewership.
