In their quest to expand product portfolios beyond connectivity, operators are looking to IoT as a revenue driver. Covid-19 has highlighted the need for enterprises to embrace digital transformation - and 5G’s improvements (in terms of lower latency, faster transmission speeds and increased network capacity) should open the door. However, the IoT ecosystem is fragmented, multiple players are vying to claim a slice of the market and operators are not necessarily first-choice providers of IoT. We examine how operators can successfully monetise the opportunity ahead.
