Fixed on sustainability: broadband providers adopt a diverse approach

This report is available to those subscribed to the Fixed, TV and Convergence module.
Across the telecoms ecosystem, including for fixed broadband (FBB) providers, sustainability has extended beyond corporate social responsibility to become a core strategic priority. The telecoms industry accounts for 2–3% of total global energy consumption, so stopping the expansion of its carbon footprint is essential. There is also building pressure from investors, enterprise clients and wider society. FBB providers and associated firms, such as FBB vendors, are actively working to deliver a zero-carbon world in line with international campaigns such as the UN's Race to Zero. In this report we analyse current FBB sustainability developments and their implications for the future FBB landscape.
