Understanding operator thinking, expectations and agendas
The pandemic has accelerated the shift to digital as enterprises have adjusted to a ‘new normal’ to ensure business continuity. This has resulted in changes to supply chains and business models, such as enterprises enhancing their online presence or using new digital channels. It has also led to growing enterprise demand for services provided by operator, with security services leading the way. According to the GSMA Intelligence Operators in Focus: Enterprise Opportunity 2021 survey, security saw the strongest growth in demand from enterprises; it was highlighted as the primary growth area by 44% of operators surveyed.
In this report we examine the implications of this security priority for operators’ plans and portfolios and also look at security in the 5G and private networks context. As operators continue to roll out 5G networks, their marking strategies differ. We reveal what operators market as their primary 5G value proposition, now and in two years’ time. Operators also want to have a role to play in private networks, which we explore in terms of their product offerings and strategies. Additionally, we consider why all eyes are on IT and cloud vendors.
