Justin Springham hosts a panel debate around the driving forces behind the mobile economy.
We are in the age of hyper-connectivity, with 5.1 billion mobile subscribers and 8 billion mobile connections worldwide. With 4G now emerging as the dominant technology, and 5G launches well underway, the mobile economy is larger than ever before, accounting for 4.6% of global GDP.
With
the evolution of 5G networks, emerging tech such as AI is expected to
mainstream – everything from smart speakers in homes, to robotics in industry.
So how does this evolution translate into economic gains? And are there risks
or barriers which must be addressed in order for the global economy to
benefit?

- Davide Strusani, Principal Economist for Telecoms, Media, Technology, Venture Capital and Funds, The World Bank Group
